Man steals alcohol, breaks bottles at business | Mercer Island police blotter

April 28
Theft: Police issued a subject a third-degree theft citation for stealing wine and laundry detergent from a business in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast. The subject was voluntarily transported to Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue.
April 29
Warrant: A subject who had a Mercer Island Police Department warrant for failure to appear in court was re-booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) jail in Des Moines.
Property found: A resident in the 4800 block of Forest Avenue Southeast found a BMW key fob and another key on an Islanders baseball lanyard near their house two weeks prior to making a report. The resident hung the keys on a tree branch near where they were found and no one ever came to obtain them.
E-bike accident: In the 7400 block of 84th Avenue Southeast, an unidentified grey sedan struck a juvenile who was riding an e-bike in a crosswalk. The driver contacted the juvenile, who said he was “OK” and left the scene. The juvenile sustained minor abrasions to his arm and the e-bike was undamaged. The juvenile’s parents declined medical evaluation as the juvenile already visited the school nurse.
April 30
Warrant: Issaquah City Jail called to confirm that a subject in custody had a Mercer Island Police Department warrant for obstructing and third-degree theft. It was confirmed and the subject was re-booked into the same jail.
Traffic offense: In the 4000 block of Island Crest Way, police stopped a driver for speeding and then arrested the subject for second-degree driving while license suspended.
May 1
Warrant: In the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast, a police traffic stop resulted in an arrest for a Bellevue Police Department warrant for physical control. The subject was booked in SCORE jail.
May 2
Theft: An adult male entered the back storage area of CVS in the 3000 block of 78th Avenue Southeast and stole alcohol while breaking two bottles during the theft. The subject left in a vehicle that was identified and tied into a CVS theft from February of 2026. The case is still under investigation and police have yet to make an arrest.
