Lack of designated parking is irresponsible | Letter

The community has no idea! My granddaughter is on a performing dance team. They have competitions at various local performing arts centers all season long.
There are approximately six teams competing at each event. Each dance club has roughly 50-60 kids. All need to be driven and have at least one parent on site for costume changes, make up etc. (parking). In addition there are at least three, often four, instructors per studio (parking). Then there are seven judges (parking). Did I mention the sound/lighting people (more parking)? Oh yes, and the sponsors who come with their own team of photographer, videographer and vendors, all needing parking.
Then there are the proud relatives. These events begin Saturday morning. Dancers have to be there at the venue by 8 a.m. Saturday and they frequently run until 7-8 p.m. Then the whole thing begins again on Sunday. Sunday’s competition typically ends earlier, by 5-6 p.m. Mercerdale and the surrounding residents have every right to be very concerned. It will be Summer Celebration every weekend, not to mention there will be evening performances by other groups.
This lack of designated parking is completely irresponsible. I wonder how our City Council would feel if this were in their neighborhood.
