Members of the Mercer Island City Council gathered at First Hill Park with city staff on May 5 to officially dedicate the brand-new playground. It’s the second playground replacement completed under the parks levy that was passed by Island voters in 2022. Open since early January, the playground features new equipment, including a 20-foot-tall climbing structure with two slides, the tallest in the city’s playground system, swings, a log tunnel, engineered wood fiber surfacing and enhanced, accessible pathways. The design, which was informed by community input and engagement, is geared for children ages 2-12. Photos courtesy of the city of Mercer Island
