Rep. Smith will discuss federal issues at June 16 Rotary meeting

Rep. Adam Smith of Washington’s 9th Congressional District will discuss updates on federal issues and engage in a Q&A session at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on June 16 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St.

The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.

Smith has served in Congress since 1997 and his top priorities include creating equal economic opportunity by expanding access to high-quality education and job-training opportunities, and building stronger communities by promoting affordable housing, public safety, and quality and affordable health care, including mental and behavioral health care. As a senior member of Democratic leadership in the House, Smith serves as the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he is a champion for our military members and their families and a longtime advocate of strengthening American diplomacy and development.
