Members of the Mercer Island High School Bel Canto Choir traveled to Anaheim, California, over spring break to participate in the American Choral Festival, record at Disney Studios and spend some time in the Disneyland parks. At the festival, singers got to learn from highly-renowned adjudicators, received Excellent ratings, collaborated with other schools through an exchange workshop and learned a brand new composition together. “Led by professor Coty Raven Morris, the choir learned about how singing together impacts the world around us, as she taught valuable lessons in resilience, collaboration and self-appreciation,” reads a Mercer Island School District social media post. On May 2 — World Labyrinth Day — people are invited to walk the labyrinth at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island starting at 1 p.m. Rev. Patrick Raymond said the Chartres-design labyrinth has been a feature of the church grounds for about 30 years. The church will also be re-introducing the labyrinth to its members and guests with presentations after its 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. worship services on April 26. People may walk the Emmanuel labyrinth anytime, Raymond said, adding that an adjacent sign provides a simple explanation and instruction. The church is located at 4400 86th Ave. SE. Courtesy photo
