MIHS junior excels in The Presidential 1776 Award for Civics competition

Brondstetter is headed to the finals in Washington, D.C.

The King County Sheriff’s Office awarded Mercer Island Police Department officers Jordan Tranter and Shannon Johnson with the King County Lifesaving Award for their heroic actions during an ice rescue that occurred on Feb. 3 in Fish Lake in the Cascade Mountains. Special Operations Division Chief Jose Marenco and King County Marine Patrol Sergeant Rich Barton presented the awards in recognition of the officers swift response and lifesaving efforts after a person fell through the ice. “Officers Tranter and Johnson’s professionalism, teamwork and dedication to public safety reflect the highest standards of service and commitment to the community,” reads a press release.
