The Albertsons pharmacy was robbed at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, when a man passed a threatening note to a pharmacist, demanding drugs.

The Albertsons pharmacy was robbed at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, when a man passed a threatening note to a pharmacist, demanding drugs, at 2755 77th Ave. S.E. The pharmacist, afraid for her safety, passed two bottles of oxycodone worth $250 to the suspect. Each bottle contained 100 5mg pills.

By the numbers: January

The Mercer Island Police Department reported 26 arrests in January and 932 total calls for service. Traffic incidents included six accidents, on hit-and-run, one bicycle-vehicle accident, one DUI accident and four DUI arrests. Police issued 251 total citations and 40 parking tickets.

Jan. 30

Speeding: Police stopped a Lexus speeding in the school zone in front of Islander Middle School in the 8200 block of S.E. 72nd Street at 1:13 p.m. The 46-year-old driver, a Bothell resident, was driving with a suspended license. He cited and given a courtesy transport to the north QFC after being released. His vehicle, which was blocking traffic and school bus traffic, was impounded.

Stolen motorcycle: A stolen Kawasaki motorcycle was abandoned on the Auto Spa property in the 2700 block of 80th Avenue S.E. An employee reported the bike and police found that it had been stolen out of Pierce County. The registered owner was contacted and requested a tow because he did not have a way to retrieve the motorcycle.

Jan. 31

Burglary: A Shorewood apartments storage unit in the 9000 block of East Shorewood Drive was burglarized sometime between September and December 2012. Multiple items worth more than $5,000 altogether were stolen, including an antique foot locker containing personal documents and notary paperwork, an antique Shaker storage basket, oil painting of a tiger, a six-person camping tent, camping burner, catering equipment, a set of golf clubs and golf bag, ice chests and an air conditioning unit. There was no evidence of damage to the storage unit door.

Feb. 1

Theft: A loss of $4,649 in items was reported by a 34-year-old North end woman who discovered the theft after hiring a couple to help clear out her apartment so that water damage could be repaired. After the movers left and the repairs were completed, the victim discovered that a Wii game console had been stolen along with several Wii games, an inactive Blackberry phone and silver Tiffany watch. The theft occurred in mid-January in the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street.

Feb. 3

Arrest: Police took custody of a 44-year-old suspect at the SCORE Jail and booked him into the Issaquah Jail on a local misdemeanor warrant.
