Next week is going to be a busy week for travelers around the country, and the Washington State Department of Transportation has some tips to help drivers get over the woods and through the trees while avoiding backups.

For those traveling key holiday weekend routes, WSDOT offers additional information on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 over Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 between Thurston and Pierce counties and I-5 between Bellingham and the U.S./Canadian Border. Thanksgiving weekend is typically one of the busiest travel days of the year for I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass and US 2 over Stevens Pass.

In order to keep everyone moving, WSDOT and it’s contractors have suspended most state highway construction work from noon on Wednesday, Nov. 21 through Monday, Nov. 26.

Heavy traffic is expected on Friday, Nov. 23 on I-5 through downtown Seattle as drivers head to the annual Macy’s Holiday Parade. On Sunday, Nov. 25 the Seattle Marathon will close the I-5 and SR 520 ramps along with the I-5 and I-90 express lanes.
