An employee of the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club, a 26-year-old Snoqualmie resident, was terminated for being in contact with a 12-year-old Mercer Island girl between April 19 and April 22.

The employee spoke inappropriately with the girl, who had visited the club frequently over spring break, according to the police report. The victim’s mother reported that another mother of her daughter’s friend suspected inappropriate contact and chatted with the employee over Facebook while using the victim’s Facebook account without permission. The girl was a Facebook friend with the employee.

The victim’s mother reported the incident to the Boys & Girls Club and the police department. The club found that the employee’s actions were in violation of the club’s policy. While no crime occurred, the Boys & Girls Club prohibits employees from having any contact with minors outside of club parameters.
