Six Mercer Island City Council candidates submit filing papers

Two current Mercer Island City Councilmembers have put their hats in the ring for re-election.

The general election will take place on Nov. 4, but the primary will occur before that on Aug. 5.

During the week of May 5-9, councilmembers Ted Weinberg (Position No. 4) and Lisa Anderl (Position No. 6) filed their declaration of candidacy with King County Elections. Weinberg is running unopposed while Anderl will face off with Johana Beresky.

Adam Ragheb and Julie Hsieh will duel for Position No. 7, and Daniel Becker will run unopposed for Position No. 2.

In the 41st Legislative District, current state representative Position No. 1 Janice Zahn (D) will compete with Vinita Kak (D) and John Whitney (R) first in a primary.

Over at the Mercer Island School District, Julian Bradley and Brian Gaspar will run for Director Position No. 2, and Stephanie Burnett and Robert O’Callahan will run for Director Position No. 4.

Update: Both Kristine Richardson and Ted Yackulic withdrew their city council candidacies on May 12.
