Mercer Island competes at Liberty | Prep track and field

The Mercer Island boys and girls track and field team traveled to Liberty on Thursday, May 2 for the final regular season meet. The Islanders will begin the post season with the KingCo meet on Wednesday, May 8 and Friday, May 10 at Redmond High School.

In the boys competition, Lebourne James finished the 100 meter race in 11.4 seconds, followed by Kwame Opoku at 12.3, Kyle Hsu at 12.6, Michael Munoz at 13 and Eric Kim at 13.1 seconds.

In the 200 meter race, James finished in 24 seconds, while Ethan Vu was right behind him in 24.1 seconds. Luke Bohlinger finished in 25, Travis Gallatin in 25.4, Kwame Opoku in 25.7 and Andrew Barnwell in 25.9 seconds.

In the 400 meter race, Daniel Mayer finisehd in 56.2 seconds. Nathan Gallatin was the first Islander to cross the finish line in the 800 meter event. He finished in 2:04.3, while Matthew Wotipka finished in 2:09.3. Kyle Weiss finished in 2:15.38 and Simon Wang finished in 2:22.67.

In the 1,600 race, Matthew Wotipka finished in 4:31.6, Dylan Lesko in 4:39.2, Ian Platou in 4:48.9, Weiss in 4:58.5, Teddy Larkin in 5:00.7.

In the 3,200 meter race, Ian Schneiderman finished in 11:09.95, while Seattle Thunder finished in 11:16.9 and Thomas Brown finished in 11:46.51.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Max Tilden finished in 17.2 seoncds, while John Gallagher finished in 17.4 and Jasper Hugunin finished in 20.9. The same trio ran the 300 meter hurdle race, with Tilden finishing in 44.5, Gallagher in 44.8 and Hugunin in 52.8.

The Islander team of Barnwell, Bohlinger, Gallagher and James finished the 4×100 relay in 46.4 seconds, while Barnwell, Opoku, Delano Kingston and Richard Chess finished the 4×400 relay in 4:25.5.

In the shot put competition, Tyler Walters finished with a throw of 41 feet 4 inches, while Nolan Conway threw 39’7.5. Dylan Majewski threw 36’6.5, Sahir Noorani finished with a toss of 32’5.5, Opoku at 30’5 and Joshua Lee at 29’2.5.

In the discus, Hsu threw 91 feet event, while Majewski threw 90’5 and Noorani came in at 73’11. Opoku threw 72’3, Lee threw 67’10 and Delano Kingston threw 56 feet event.

In the javelin, Majewski threw 118’7, while Hsu tossed it 96’9, Opoku threw 72’11 and Kingston threw 64’5.

Greyson Weltyk finished the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 6 inches. He also competed in the pole vault, jumping 9’6, followed by Ryan Jones at 9 feet. Hugunin jumped 8’6, Christopher Rorem cleared 8 feet, as did brother Nicholas Richards.

In the long jump, Andrew Barnwell jumped 17’7.5, while Kim finished with a jump of 16’6.5. Matt Look jumped 16’2.25, Nathaniel Tate jumped 13’4.75 and Clement Brown jumped 12’11.75.

In the triple jump, Gallagher finished with a 35’10, while Kim earned 32’5.5.

In the girls comeptition, Lorial Yeadon finished the 100 meter race in 13 seconds, followed by Latrevian Saunders in 13.6, Adrienne Emick in 13.7, Nicole Walden in 13.9 and Katie Lee in 14.9, while Jacqueline Gallup finished in 16.5 seconds.

In the 200 meter race, Sarah Bjarnason finished in 28 seconds flat, while McKenzie Krause finished in 28.6, Walden in 29.4 and Katie Lee in 31.1 seconds.

Freshman Victoria Gersch finished the 400 meter race in 1:01. In the 800 meter event, Rhiannon Holmes finished in 2:33.1, Linden Elggren finished in 2:36.7, Brianna Meehan in 2:46.4 and Evan Schulte in 3:07.7.

Alida Scalzo was the first to finish the 1,600 meter race, finishing in 5:23.9, followed by Bjarnason in 5:33.4 and Elggren in 5:41.1. Scalzo also finished the 3,200 meter race in 12:13.2, while freshman Alexa Bauman finished in 12:27.6.

In the 100 meter hurdles event, Lindsay Lightfoot finished in 17.4 seconds, while Jolie Tate finished in 18.9, Sydney Zeldes finished in 19 seconds and Shannon Cavanaugh finished in 19.1. Tate also finished the 300 meter hurdles race in 54.3.

The Mercer Island team of Piper Casey, Adrienne Emick, Saunders and Yeadon finished the 4×100 relay in 52.1 seconds, while Yeadon, Saunders, Casey and Gersch finished the 4×200 relay in 1:48.00.

In the shot put competition, Emily Bassett threw 35’5, while Carly Ledbetter threw 26’3. Katherine Hendrikson threw 24’4, Gabrielle Jones threw 20’11 and Jacqueline Gallup threw 19’10.

In the discus competition, Katherine Hendrikson threw 66’8, Emily Bassett finished with 65’8, Jones at 51’3, Gina So at 50’2 and Gallup threw 28’4.

In the high jump competition, Kris Brackmann cleared 4’8, Emily Lightfoot jumped 4’4, Christina Travis 4’2 and McKenzie Krause jumped 4 feet.

In the triple jump, Saunders finished at 31’7.5 and Brackmann finished at 24’4.5.
