Mud Bay pet retailer’s Mercer Island location donated more than $7,000 worth of food and supplies to Seattle Humane last month.
Overall, Mud Bay has donated more than $460,000 in food and supplies to more than 20 animal welfare organizations across the Pacific Northwest. The donations were made possible by Mud Bay’s pledge to match all customer pet food purchases on Neighborhood Pet Store Day on Sept. 27.
Seattle Humane’s website says that it “proudly promotes the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need, regardless of age, ability, circumstance or geography.”
According to the Mud Bay Mercer Island team (located at 2441 76th Ave. SE, Suite 100): “Neighborhood Pet Store Day holds special significance for our team, as it underscores the importance of local brick-and-mortar businesses to Mercer Island. It highlights our role in the community, gives us a chance to thank our loyal customers, and shows that Mud Bay truly lives its values — especially through the food match campaign, which directly supported local shelters our customers know and care about.”
Seattle Humane Corporate Relations Manager Nicole Collin added about how this donation will impact the organization: “Seattle Humane believes that no person should ever have to choose between feeding their pets and themselves. Oogie’s Ohana Pet Food Bank at Seattle Humane collects and distributes pet food donations to pet owners in the community. The program provides nearly 1 million meals each year of donated pet food to families and food banks throughout the region.”
