Nick Wold appointed as associate principal of Mercer Island High School

Nick Wold has been appointed as associate principal and athletic director at Mercer Island High School.

Wold comes to Mercer Island from the Monroe School District, where he served as a teacher, coach, ASB/student activities coordinator, dean of students and assistant athletic director.

“Nick’s passion came out very clearly in the interviewing process — his desire to help every student to achieve and reach their academic goals,” said MIHS Principal Vicki Puckett. “We are excited to welcome Nick’s warm, positive and caring spirit as he embarks on a new journey at Mercer Island High School.”

Wold served as head boys basketball coach at Monroe from 2008 to 2013 and taught health and fitness at the school for 13 years before becoming dean of students for the 2016-17 school year.

He received his bachelor of science from Central Washington University, master of science in physical education and exercise sport science from University of Central Missouri and principal certification from Western Washington University.

Mark Jergens-Zumda, the former associate principal, took a job at the Issaquah School District.

Mercer Island School District receives praise following bus inspection

The Mercer Island School District has received a clean inspection of its buses from the Washington State Patrol.

“After reviewing the results of the recent inspection, we recognize that your school district has again completed the inspection of school buses with exceptional results. For the past two years, the results in your district has been outstanding,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal.

“Our staff does a terrific job of maintaining our buses and keeping kids safe,” said David Bynum, director of transportation for MISD.
