Rotary Islanders of November

Kristen Brackmann and Zachary Elliott, Mercer Island High School seniors, have been named the Rotary Islanders of the month for November.

Kristen Brackmann and Zachary Elliott, Mercer Island High School seniors, have been named the Rotary Islanders of the month for November.

Brackmann is the ASB Student Outreach coordinator and the photo editor for The Islander newspaper. She has been a varsity basketball captain for two years and is a Title IX student representative and varsity volleyball player. She is also a Mercer Island select basketball coach. A member of the National Honor Society and Senior Service Club, Brackmann is also the co-president of the Be Kind MI Club, and a Bridges leader. She has lettered four years in varsity basketball and three years in varsity volleyball.

“I enjoy all sports, teaching myself how to play the piano, photography, and participating in fun-runs,” she stated. The daughter of Mark and Maureen Brackmann, she plans to attend Claremont McKenna College, where she will join the women’s basketball team.

Elliott has been an ASB class officer for three years. He is a varsity tennis captain and Washington State Champs player, in addition to being an AP and National Merit scholar. The son of Michael and Elicia Elliott, he has been a website and phone app developer for three years, a USTA columnist, and is active with Junglr, Microsoft, NHS and USTA Champs.

Elliott is a pianist in his spare time and enjoys hiking, reading and web design. He is also a self-taught programmer. He plans to attend a four-year university for economics, business or computer science.
