A water balloon came through the window of a boat on Lake Washington and exploded after striking a laptop at 6:37 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. Someone launched the water balloon from a dock in the 2400 block of 60th Avenue S.E. The victim’s computer must be replaced for $2,000. Police contacted the group on the dock and identified the homeowner after the group gave the victim a “runaround.”
In another incident, a water balloon knocked a 40-year-old man unconscious at a residence in the 2000 block of Faben Drive after 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4. Someone shot the water balloon out of a slingshot. One witness was present. The victim refused aid after waking up.
July 31
Burglary: A generator, alcohol and cash were stolen out of a storage room inside a 49-year-old woman’s garage in the 4200 block of East Mercer Way. The items were stolen sometime between March and mid-June. The woman’s children had left the garage door open several times before the items went missing.
Aug. 2
Drugs: Police contacted three 21-year-old occupants of a vehicle on the side of the road at 1:44 a.m. in the 4200 block of Shoreclub Drive. Smoke was emanating from the windows and one passenger had a bong and jar of marijuana. Police searched with consent and found more marijuana in another passenger’s backpack. Both passengers were arrested and cited for possession of marijuana.
Weapons violation: A 26-year-old man reported a bullet hole in his apartment ceiling and a bullet embedded in his floor in the 2800 block of 75th Place S.E. The same incident occurred two months ago, and the bullet was recovered. The suspect, 56, lives above the victim.
Hacker: A 64-year-old South end man’s computer was hacked and remotely controlled at 6:30 p.m. The victim clicked on a screen while on the phone with a suspicious person claiming to be from Microsoft. The suspect gained remote access to the victim’s computer. The victim ended contact, disabled his computer, checked his bank account and canceled his credit cards. There were no unauthorized charges.
Liquor violation: Police responded to a noise complaint at 10:53 p.m. in the 2200 block of 66th Avenue S.E. Police found four 19-year-old males with open beer bottles at a table on the front deck of the residence. Two subjects admitted drinking, and three were cited for minor in possession.
Aug. 3
Dog bite: A 22-year-old Bellevue woman reported that she was bitten by a dog at 1 p.m. in the 2700 block of 69th Avenue S.E. The woman went to the wrong address for a party, where she encountered the dog. She reported the incident nine hours later and said she “wanted to make sure that the dog had all of its appropriate shots,” according to the case report.
Burglary: Cash, jewelry and electronics were stolen from an unsecured residence in the 8500 block of S.E. 76th Place between 10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Suspects stole diamond rings, gold earrings, a watch, an iPad, laptop and headphones. Police lifted suspects’ fingerprints for evidence.
Aug. 4
Accident: A delivery truck struck and felled a lamppost at 12:11 p.m. while entering the Albertsons parking lot from 77th Avenue S.E. The driver, a 47-year-old man, said there was a lot of traffic at the time. One witness was present. There were no injuries, and the truck was not damaged.
Vehicles towed: Two vehicles blocking the road on a curve in the 7400 block of North Mercer Way were impounded at 12:49 p.m. during the Seafair air show.
Disturbance: A 54-year-old woman became upset by a vehicle parked halfway onto her property in the 4300 block of Forest Avenue S.E. after the Seafair air show at 2:50 p.m. She tried to locate the owners by searching through a wallet and purse in the vehicle. She found the phone number of one subject’s parent and did no damage to the vehicle. No items were stolen. A police officer noted that the vehicle was partially on city right-of-way and partially on the woman’s property.
Lost wallet: A 19-year-old female reported losing her wallet sometime after 12 p.m., the previous day, in the 2400 block of 66th Avenue S.E. The wallet contained $110 in cash, credit and debit cards, and ID. The girl, from Colorado, was concerned about proving her identity while traveling.
Malicious mischief: Teenagers tried opening the window of a woman’s home at 8:20 p.m. in the 4600 block of 89th Avenue S.E. Police contacted juveniles who matched the description given by the woman. They had been ringing doorbells as a game. Police detained one 16-year-old subject who was in possession of marijuana, and released him to his parents. Charges are pending.
An unknown object struck and damaged a Honda minivan en route on I-90. The object gouged the van’s roof at 10:38 p.m.
Aug. 5
Vehicles towed: Police issued a notice of infraction to the owner of a Honda Accord illegally parked in the 7200 block of North Mercer Way during the Seafair air show at 1:10 p.m. The vehicle, a traffic hazard, was blocking a lane of travel. It was impounded.
Police had a Ford Windstar towed out of the roadway in the 2500 block of 71st Avenue S.E. at 1:15 p.m. The driver was cited for parking within eight feet of the center line.
A Toyota Prius was parked 6.5 feet from the center of the road in the 2500 block of 71st Avenue S.E. at 1:15 p.m.
Aug. 6
Arrest: Police booked a 20-year-old Renton woman into the Issaquah Jail at 1:30 a.m. on a $4,000 misdemeanor warrant. She had been using heroin.
Theft: Someone stole organ speakers out of the loft in the St. Monica Church sanctuary in the 4300 block of 88th Avenue S.E. during the past six months.
Found: Police found missing construction equipment at 10:16 p.m. in the 8400 block of West Mercer Way. Police found a key in a Toro Dingo mini front loader that was apparently unloaded in the middle of the road, moved to the side and then abandoned. The equipment was registered to a company in Bellevue.
