Yollin graduates from Marine Corps boot camp

Private Charles David Yollin, 18, of Mercer Island, graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, on Oct. 4, 2013.

Yollin successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 86 recruits in Training Platoon 2150 of Golf Company. While in recruit training, Yollin qualified as a sharpshooter in combat marksmanship.  Following 10 days home on leave, he will report to Camp Pendleton for one month at Military Combat Training, then Marine Corps Engineer School at Camp Lejeune, N.C., where he will be trained as an electrician.

Yollin will serve in the Marine Corps Reserve and plans to attend Bellevue College during the academic year and Platoon Leaders Class in the summers, with the goal to become a Marine Corps officer.

A 2013 graduate of Mercer Island High School, Yollin participated in marching band and track and field. He is the son of Guy and Sandy Yollin, of Mercer Island.
