Mercer Island’s varsity football squad defeated Redmond, 21-11, on Sept. 14.

Ryan Boyle snagged two touchdown passes and Elan Gotel hauled in one receiving score, all from quarterback Spencer Kornblum, who was 19-for-29 passing for 271 yards. Boyle had seven catches for 139 yards and Ryder Davis amassed five catches for 49 yards.

On defense for the Islanders, Luke Myklebust had 10 tackles, Griffin King had five tackles and one sack, Cole Krawiec had seven tackles and a half sack, Max Murphy had four tackles and one sack and Charlie Chatalas grabbed his third interception of the season.

King, who also plays offensive lineman, has been mowing down defenders to help the offense flow, said head coach DJ Mims.
