The Friendship Circle of Washington, which is based on Mercer Island, held a menorah lighting, Chanukah celebration and festivity on Dec. 14 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. Pictured is Mathew, 16, lighting the menorah as a volunteer and Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky watch. Also pictured below is a performer in the outdoor entertainment light show. In a letter to the editor to the Mercer Island Reporter , Rabbi Bogomilsky said, in part: “As we light the first candle, let’s hold in our hearts the holy souls who perished in Bondi Beach, and send prayers for healing and a speedy recovery to all who are injured and hurting.” Photos courtesy of Marina Prossin
