Mercer Island High School Advanced Programming (Course CSE, Computer Science and Engineering) students Gavrilo Odievich (top left), Derek Borden (bottom left), Derek Weiss (bottom) and Andrew Fateev (right) recently won the Award for Excellence in Engineering from the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) after entering their project in the Central Sound Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The title of their submission was “Computing the Future: THE CPU.” There was a record-breaking 384 projects submitted and 443 student participants in the fair, which was held on March 7 at Mountlake Terrace High School.
