Probable case of hepatitis linked to Costco berries found in Washington

Officials with the Washington State Department of Health have reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website now lists one hepatitis A illness in Washington state that meets the definition as a “probable case” in the outbreak linked to frozen berries sold in Costco stores.

Officials with the Washington State Department of Health have reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website now lists one hepatitis A illness in Washington state that meets the definition as a “probable case” in the outbreak linked to frozen berries sold in Costco stores.

The probable case is a man from Thurston County who was sick in March and has recovered. The national outbreak now lists 79 cases in eight states.

The health department has advised Washington residents to not eat Townsend Farms Organic Anti-Oxidant Blend frozen berries sold in Costco stores throughout the state, after reports of a hepatitis A outbreak connected to their consumption.
